Two gold awards
|
Bpex (British Pork Executive) held a product evaluation event at Newark on 28th January, 2009. Lakings entered 11 products for assesment.
Our Lamb Wellington won its class outright. The judge said he would like to dine with Paul Wright, its maker, on the winning entry.
Our new Traditional Steak Pie took a gold award also. Both are now readily available in store. Place an order to avoid disappointment.
Seven silver award were made for Dry cured bacon, Plain & Smoked, Home cured Gammon, Italian Meat Balls, Pork Pie, Shepherds Pie & Spring Onion & Leek Sausage.
Bronze awards went to Lincolnshire Sausage, which lost valuable points because they were over the weight required for the competition, and Cottage Pie, which as the judge said, "tasted better than it looked".
A very successful result. Other well known producers faired worse than we did.
One of the overall winners is based in Wales.
30 company's entered the competition.
